Kill or Not To Kill, that is the question

Okay, so now that I have your attention…I have been thinking about this quite a bit lately and here is my question. Are serial killers a modern invention or is it media? Here is exactly what I have been wondering. I did some thinking on this subject. If serial killers are a modern invention, explain Jack the Ripper. Are they just more prolific because people are more insane in contemporary times due to chemical additives, drug abuse, changes in food/medications. Or are people as insane as every, but thanks to media and the instant connects of the modern age, are we more aware of them?

I know murder is nothing new–Cain and Abel…Lizzy Borden, Jack the Ripper, Adolph Hitler, Joseph Mengela,  But now days mental illness seems to be cropping up all over. In modern times, Ed Gein, Son of Sam, Ted Bundy, Jeffery Dahmer, Charles Albright, Gary Ridgeway, Randall Woodfield, Philip Markoff to name a few.

What do you think? are people more susceptible to insanity in our modern age? Are serial killers more prolific? Or is it the miracle of modern technology that allows us to know about the crazies?

Inquiring minds want to know…
